FAQs
AutoSave Overview
What is AutoSave?
AutoSave is a smart energy service offered by Think Home Solutions, LLC (”THS”) that automatically switches customers between Think Energy and their utility’s Price to Compare—whichever offers the lower rate. Rate changes can happen frequently based on your market’s switching rules and whether or not savings are available — monthly, seasonally, annually.
Who handles rate transitions?
Think Home Solutions handles the switching. The customer is granting THS authorization to switch, and Think Energy makes it happen if it offers the customer a rate.
Can we promote “guaranteed lifetime savings”?
No. You may say customers are guaranteed never to pay more than the utility’s Price to Compare, but not guarantee savings over time.
Availability & Eligibility
Is AutoSave for residential or commercial customers?
Residential customers and commercial accounts using up to 100,000 kWh per year are eligible to enroll in AutoSave
Who can enroll?
AutoSave makes sense for everyone. As long as a customer pays their bills on time, is not on assistance programs (LI-HEAP, PIP, etc.), and is eligible for supplier switching in their area, they’ll be a great fit.
- Band 0 customers will be accepted, but EAs will not earn points, commissions or bonuses on these enrollments.
Enrollment & Plan Details
Is there a fee to enroll in AutoSave?
No. Enrollment is completely free.
Can current Think Energy customers switch to AutoSave?
Yes, in two ways:
• Cancel and re-enroll under AutoSave
• Switch at the end of their current contract term
NOTE: Customers currently on fixed rate plans should not switch to AutoSave if their current locked in rate is lower than what is being offered by the Utility. This could result in the customer paying more on AutoSave than what they are currently paying on their contract. Customers in AutoSave markets will be offered AutoSave as a renewal option.
Do customers need to renew AutoSave annually?
No. AutoSave continues until the customer cancels or changes plans. To cancel, customers must call 844-976-5005 or email Care@ThinkHomeSolutions.com.
Can AutoSave customers be automatically placed on Community Solar?
No. AutoSave and Community Solar are separate programs.
Service & Supply
How long does it take for supply to switch?
In most markets, changes can take 1–2 billing cycles to take effect.
If a customer has budget billing, HEAP or a government assistance program, can they join AutoSave?
Customers should check with their utility and or program administration to confirm that switching suppliers won’t affect their benefits.
What will appear on the customer’s bill?
Think Energy will be listed as the energy supplier when applicable.
Will there be a customer portal?
No. Customers will receive email notifications when their supply changes.
Energy Advisor Support & Compensation
Do we get points for AutoSave customers?
Yes, the enroller earns points matching the customer’s electricity band. (For example, a Band 2 customer earns the enroller 2 points.)
What makes someone a good AutoSave customer?
AutoSave makes sense for everyone. As long as a customer pays their bills on time, is not on assistance programs, and is eligible for supplier switching in their area, they’ll be a great fit.
Be sure to keep these two items in mind:
- Band 0 customers will be accepted, but EAs will not earn points or commissions on these enrollments.
- FEC customers will be rejected.
How do I know if a customer is on AutoSave?
Check the Personal Customer Report:
AutoSave field:
- Enrolled = Active AutoSave customer
- Not Enrolled = Never enrolled
- Pending = The customer has enrolled in AutoSave but has not been accepted by the local utility
- Active = The Customer is enrolled in the Think Energy AutoSave plan.
- Canceled = No longer on AutoSave
- Rejected = The customer was enrolled, but the local utility rejected the enrollment thus the customer will not move forward with the AutoSave plan.
Customer Status field:
- Active = Supplied by Think Energy
- Hold = Supplied by the utility
- Canceled = Customer canceled account
How are Energy Advisors compensated for AutoSave customers?
AutoSave compensation is residual-only (no CAB):
- On Think Energy supply: Full residuals
- On utility supply: 50% of Band 1 residuals
Dos and Don’ts
AutoSave Dos
- Do say AutoSave automatically manages the customer’s electricity supply so they receive either the utility’s supply rate or Think Energy’s supply rate—whichever is lower.
- Do explain that customers will never pay more than the utility’s Price to Compare.
- Do clarify that AutoSave compares only Think Energy’s custom rate to the utility—not all retail suppliers.
- Do explain that AutoSave looks at the customer’s unique usage and market factors to generate a personalized Think Energy offer.
- Do ensure customers understand that THS cannot guarantee Think Energy will always offer a lower rate than the utility.
- Do advise customers not to enroll in AutoSave if they are already with another retail supplier, unless they understand that:
- THS may switch their account to Think Energy at a higher rate than their current supplier, and
- They may incur an early termination fee from their current supplier.
- Do confirm the customer’s current supply contract expiration date before enrolling them in AutoSave.
- Do tell customers that if they want to switch to a different retail supplier, they must first cancel AutoSave, or it may override that new enrollment and potentially trigger early termination fees.
- Do explain how to cancel: Customers must call Customer Care at 844-976-5005 or email Care@ThinkHomeSolutions.com.
- Do offer Think Basic as a placeholder only while AutoSave is unavailable in their market—not as a temporary step toward AutoSave.
AutoSave Don’ts
- Don’t promise or imply “guaranteed lifetime savings.”
- Don’t suggest that customers will always be on Think Energy. Some will be on the utility, depending on rates.
- Don’t say AutoSave compares all supplier rates—it only compares Think Energy vs. the utility.
- Don’t enroll a customer in AutoSave without checking their current supply contract’s expiration date.
- Don’t tell customers that THS or Think Energy will pay for any early termination fees they may incur from their existing supplier.
- Don’t attempt to cancel AutoSave on behalf of your customer. They must do this directly via phone or email.
- Don’t tell customers “cancel anytime” without explaining how to cancel.
- Don’t say or imply that customers on Think Basic will automatically transition to AutoSave. They must sign a new agreement with THS.
